Christmas gifts I've sewn
I really enjoyed sewing these gifts, so I thought I'd share them here.
A couple of bags for my friend, Ang, and her Mum, Pat, who donated 2 large bags of fabric - thank you Pat!
I made 2 of these art cases for my friend Lucy's girls (Lucy owns Rumplebums). I forgot to take a photo of the other, but it has pencils rather than wax crayons.
And the bag is for Lucy, made from the Ottobre free pattern. The top part is flocked, the bottom is baby cord, with grosgrain ribbon trim.
More bags, this time for my friend Jenny. The shopping bag fits in the front pocket of the larger bag - which is huge! There's a zipped pocket inside. Jen's an avid carboot-er, so this is to stash all her bargains safely.
This for my Mum, just because I wanted to make one! It's inspired by the pictures I've seen of the Artsy Clutch by Amy Karol, from her Bend The Rules Sewing book. I don't know if it's made the same as I don't have the book, but it was simple enough to do. Brocade is gorgeous but a PITA to work with!
A camera case for Ben's Mum. I also made one in burgundy velvet for Carolyn, my sister, but forgot to take a photo -d'oh! They both got new cameras for Christmas.
This was for Ben's Grandma. There's 2 shopping bags, 4 criss-cross coasters and I topped 2 jars of home-made jam (not made by me!) with matching fabric. This was some of the fabric donated by Pat, and it was a big hit with Grandma. I didn't realise Hebden Bridge is now officially a plastic bag-free zone, I just thought the bags were handy for shopping on the bus.
A pencil roll for Dan. The pencils are triangular for easy grip. He's just starting to get into drawing a bit, I thought this looked nicer than a plastic wallet.
Toy slings for Dan. The blue RingSling is the same blue linen I used for a RS for myself (but have since sold on) and the Mei Tai is reversible. The panels are made from fabrics I bought for making him clothes, so he has a MT to match his outfit
Bad action shot - he won't stand still while I tie it! The bear is called John, Dan calls him Gonk...

Welcome to my blog! This is not a themed blog, and it probably won't be updated regularly, it's just a place for me to share news and photos. Mostly I suspect it will be about my family and my hobbies.
Who am I?
I'm Sue! I'm married to Ben, and I'm a SAHM to our son Daniel, born May 2006, which makes him 19 months old now. I think of myself as an AP- (attachment parenting) Mum, so we use cloth nappies, I 'wear' Dan in a sling and I'm still breastfeeding. That may not be everyone's ideal way to bring up your child, but it suits us.
What do I do?
I stay home and look after Daniel. Which is a full-time job! I am also an agent for Rumplebums, and do babywearing demos. When I have time, I like to sew. I make clothes for Daniel, also ringslings and Mei Tais - 2 different types of baby carriers. This Christmas I made as many gifts as possible, which I really enjoyed doing, even if it did mean a few late nights at the sewing machine!
